DIRECTOR: ALBERT DUPONTEL
Albert Dupontel took to acting before finishing medical school. He joined the Chaillot National Theatre and made appearances in a few films, notably Encore and The Gang of Four in 1988. In 1990, he became well-known for his “Sales histoires” on Canal+ and his one man shows. He performed extensively throughout the 1990s, before going back to the cinema in 1995 with A Self-Made Hero, before directing Bernie in 1996. He then acted in films from a wide range of genres, including Serial Lover (1998), Irreversible (2002), Odette Toulemonde (2006) and Jacquou Le Croquant (2005). In 2006, he directed Locked Out and then The Villain (2009). In 2010, he appeared with Jean Dujardin in The Clink of Ice and then Benoit Poelvoorde in Le Grand Soir. In 2013, Albert Dupontel went back to filmmaking, directing Sandrine Kiberlain (winner of the César for Best Actress) in 9 Mois Ferme (2013). He latest feature film Au Revoir Là-haut, inspired in the novel by Pierre Lemaitre, is presented as a preview showing at War on Screen.
